Peter in Paddington gives Iain Dale a bit of a shock as their heated clash about 3000 child refugees gets a little bit personal.

The LBC presenter was discussing Yvette Cooper's claim that the Prime Minister was "shaming" Britain by not accepting 3000 more child refugees.

Peter says that Britain can't cope with those children, something Iain was very keen to disagree with.

"What many people don't mention, especially the charity workers that you often have on your show...is that these 20,000 [refugees] and the 5000 already in, will bring four, five or six family members," claimed Peter.

"And do you know, in the 1930s that's exactly what they would have said about the Kindertransport," said Iain, referring to the informal rescue of Jewish children from Germany that took place in the late 1930s.

Peter didn't have much of an answer for that beyond "so what?"

"Try and have a go back!" urged Iain.

"All you do, you're taking a histrionic, left liberal, emotional, irrational, virtue-signalling approach, shrieking: 'they are children!'," responded a fired-up Peter.

After Iain's laughter died down, he responded: "That's because they happen to be children."
