The US singer, 32, who found fame playing Hannah Montana on the eponymous children's show, was filmed lying across part of the historic Los Angeles landmark for her new film, Something Beautiful.

"I filmed this video in October, and by November, at Thanksgiving, I was put in ICU (intensive care unit), for a moment, just for a moment," she told US chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live!

"But it's mostly because it was Thanksgiving. There was a lot of people in the ER (emergency room), you know, people choking on turkey legs or whatever.

"And my leg began to disintegrate within some way around the kneecap area. The doctor goes, 'You have any idea why you would have such a brutal infection on your kneecap?' And I just saw myself," she said while mimicking dance moves from the video.

"And I had to tell him. And to have a surgeon look at you and say, 'Yuck.'

"They open up like cadavers, like they see inside the guts of humans, and they're looking at me, telling me I'm disgusting."

Asked if the area where she filmed had been steamed first, Cyrus replied: "Absolutely not, none of that.

"Because, you know, with this movie, I had a big dream and a small budget.

"Well, I had a pretty good budget, but I spent it all on my clothes.

"Then when it came time to go to the Walk of Fame, they're like 'So what are you going to do? Are you going to rent this thing or what, because that's really out of your price range.' I was like, 'No, we'll just go in the middle of the night.'

"Have you been to the Walk of Fame in the middle of the night? I thought it was my last day."

The new film is accompanied by the singer's ninth studio album of the same name which includes a song titled Walk Of Fame, featuring US musician Brittany Howard.

The album is being released on May 30 and there will be special one-night-only screenings of the film internationally on June 27.
