People are being advised to keep their doors and windows closed as a fire continues to burn at a warehouse in north London.

London Fire Brigade was alerted just after midnight and sent 15 fire engines and about 100 firefighters to the scene on Garman Road in Tottenham.

The fire spread through the whole of the single-storey building.

Pictures posted on the brigade's Twitter feed showed fierce flames and a huge column of black smoke rising into the early morning sky.

Later, the brigade said that "deep seated pockets of fire remain and fire crews will be at the scene throughout the day".

Station manager Mike Cotton said the fire was "not affecting any residential properties".
