British Airways passengers are facing delays after what the airline has called a "technical issue."

The airline says teams are working hard to fix the problem which hit a small number of flights yesterday evening.

It's apologised to customers affected and says they're assisting them with alternative arrangements.

A spokesperson said: "Our teams are working hard to resolve a technical issue which is affecting some of our flights. We're rebooking customers onto alternative flights and offering hotel accommodation where they are unable to continue their journeys tonight."

LBC Reporter John Stratford waited over two and a half hours to deplane at JFK airport in New York, British Airways told him.

"Due to a technical issue affecting a small number of our flights today, there was a shortage of available gates at JFK airport, meaning we had to delay disembarkation."
