Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths of a man and a woman in Nottinghamshire.

The bodies of a 57-year-old man and 39-year-old woman were discovered at a property in Porchester Road, Bingham, after police were called to the address shortly before 3.40pm on Wednesday.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene and are believed to have been known to one another.

Detective Chief Inspector Rob Routledge, who is leading the inquiry, said: "Our investigation to establish the full circumstances of this tragic incident is ongoing.

"Post-mortem examinations are taking place later today to establish the exact cause of death; however, following our initial investigations we now believe this is an isolated incident, and at this time we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

"Our investigation will continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.

"Our thoughts at this time are very much with the loved ones of those who have died and we are liaising with family to offer them support."

DCI Routledge added: "We are aware that Bingham is a small community and this incident will have an impact on its residents. We would advise anyone who wishes to raise any issues to please speak to one of our officers in the area."
