A burst water main on the A20 in Lewisham has caused flooding and traffic delays of up to 20 minutes.

Traffic going both ways at Thurston Vale has been disrupted because of flooding after a mains pipe burst in Lewisham.

Buses serving the area have been delayed by up to 20 minutes as water still flows out on to the surface of the road.

Transport for London's Bus Alerts Twitter account has warned people to be "extra" careful in the area and "allow more time" for their journeys.

Their Traffic News Twitter profil urged people to approach the junction with "caution".

Staff are reported to be on site helping to direct traffic.

Media relations officer Jamie Presland of Thames Water said: "We are aware of suspected burst in Lewisham and have engineers heading out there now.

"We don't believe there is any impact on customer supply.

"[We] can't give much more information until they've got there and had a chance to inspect what's happening.
