One police officer and a 17-year-old are among six males receiving treatment in hospital following a knife attack in Glasgow city centre.

Police Scotland confirmed the suspect has been shot dead by armed police and that there is no danger to the general public after the incident was swiftly contained.

The injured police officer is in a critical but stable condition and there have been unconfirmed reports that some of the victims have died.

At around 5:30pm, Police Scotland confirmed the attack is not being treated as terror-related.

A large police presence remains on West George Street with more than a dozen police vehicles at the scene.

The street is currently closed off and the public is asked to avoid the area.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he is "deeply saddened by the terrible incident in Glasgow" while Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said he is "deeply concerned" by the attack.
