Police have released shocking CCTV footage of a teenage girl being knocked unconscious during a vicious attack.

The 18-year-old was punched by a man who was accompanied by two other men in Richmond Street, Manchester, after reportedly leaving a club in the early hours of 13 July.

Footage of the assault appears to show a confrontation between five people before the woman is knocked to the ground.

The victim's friend, an 18-year-old male, was also assaulted and can be seen falling to the floor.

The final few seconds of the footage show the three men leaving the scene quickly.

The young woman was taken to hospital and treated for an eye injury following the assault.

Police released the footage in the hope it will help to identify the suspects.

The main suspect is described as a white man approximately 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, with dark hair.

He was wearing a black polo top with white writing on the front and dark jeans.

One of the other men is described as similar to the offender in appearance but slightly thinner.

The third man was taller than the other two and was wearing dark blue jeans and a long-sleeved pink top.

Greater Manchester Police's Constable Ben Lomax said: "We have released this shocking footage in the hope it helps us identify those responsible for this appealing and cowardly attack.

"Clearly, there were numerous people who not only witnessed this attack but will have seen the three men hastily departing the scene shortly afterwards.

"Several good Samaritans came to the aid of the victims shortly after this attack, for which we are grateful."
