Momentum: We Do Not Want To Purge Centrists

Watch as an organiser for Labour group Momentum says that his organisation has no intention of de-selecting MPs who defy leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Adam Klug came on Iain Dale’s LBC show to talk about the widening rift in Labour between backers of Corbyn and centrist MPs opposed to him.

But he told Iain that rumours that his organisation, which sprang up after Corbyn’s election, intends to remove unruly MPs from their posts.

“That is a complete misunderstanding of the mood of the time,” Klug said.

“I find it amusing and potentially reputationally damaging for Momentum to have that coverage, but it is not based on fact,”

“The evidence on the ground does not point in that direction. Momentum is not campaigning on the de-selection of MPs.”

Watch as Iain grills him on incidents when his organisation appears to have excluded prominent Labour figures from meetings.
