Speculation that Theresa May could trigger Article 50 on Tuesday has been quashed by the prime minister - but Nigel Farage has two reasons why he feels she should get on with it ASAP…

Nigel Farage was disappointed to hear Mrs May would not immediately begin the Brexit process once she had gained legal authority.

A Downing Street spokesman told reporters the prime minister had always said she would start official talks with the European Union by the end of March.

But, speaking on his LBC show, Nigel Farage listed two crucial reasons why he thinks the PM should get on with it sooner rather than later...

"Firstly it would show at last some decisiveness," he said. "Because goodness me we've had to wait an awfully long time.

"Secondly if we trigger Article 50 by Wednesday we then get this onto the agenda for the next big European summit on 6th April when the 28 bosses from all the European countries will be sitting in the room.

"At that moment we can actually begin serious negotiations. If we missed that deadline it means we won't get a chance to talk to all the other bosses until another month later."
