Why do they announce Scottish football results before English ones?

Question

When I'm waiting for football results on Saturday, the Scottish lower league results come in before all the other UK results. Why does this happen?

Answer

Name: Mark, Liverpool Street
Qualifications: Amateur football referee and father of non-league football player.
Answer: It’s to do with television. Half time used to be ten minutes across the board, but the increase in televised matches means that English clubs – who are more likely to be broadcast – have fifteen minutes for advertising and analysis. Lower league Scottish clubs kept theirs at ten minutes as they are far less likely to be broadcast, as do non-league games across the UK.
