When I'm waiting for football results on Saturday, the Scottish lower league results come in before all the other UK results. Why does this happen?

Answer: It’s to do with television. Half time used to be ten minutes across the board, but the increase in televised matches means that English clubs – who are more likely to be broadcast – have fifteen minutes for advertising and analysis. Lower league Scottish clubs kept theirs at ten minutes as they are far less likely to be broadcast, as do non-league games across the UK.
