At least 54 people have been killed by Israeli strikes on a school and hospital in Gaza, according to reports on the ground.
Israel launched two separate attacks on Gaza overnight, including a strike on a school converted into a shelter for displaced families, medical officials reported on Monday morning.
Hundreds of displaced people had been housed in Fahmi Al-Jargawi School in Gaza City, with most residents coming from the besieged town of Beit Lahia.
Gaza’s health ministry, which is run by Hamas, said 20 bodies have so far been recovered, including those of children.

Many of the victims were seriously burned after a fire ripped through two classrooms.
Israel claims the school was "a Hamas and Islamic Jihad command and control centre".
An Israeli spokesperson said the area was being used "by the terrorists to plan... attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops.”
It comes after Donald Trump demanded a ceasefire in the region be agreed quickly on Sunday.
Some reports claim the US President will announce a peace plan in the “coming days.”
“We want to see if we can stop it,” Trump said on Sunday.
“And we've talked to Israel, we want to see if we can stop this whole situation as quickly as possible,' the US President told reporters as he boarded Air Force One.”
Israel’s assault on Gaza, launched following the October 7 attack by Hamas, has killed at least 53,000 people, the vast majority women and children.
The October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas killed 1,200 people, with 251 people abducted.
Last week, Israel ended its 11-week blockade of Gaza, which many feared would lead to mass starvation and famine.
Despite claiming it would allow aid into the region, Israel has been accused by the UN of only allowing a “teaspoon” of food and supplies into Gaza.
