Speaking on Tuesday morning, the US president laid blame at the doors of both Israel and Iran, insisting he was "not happy" with either nation - noting in particular that he is "really unhappy" with Israel.

"Do not drop those bombs," Mr Trump told Israel, as he spoke to reporters from the White House lawn before leaving for the NATO summit in The Hague.

He added: "They've been fighting for so long and so hard, they don't know what the f*** they're doing".

Reiterating that Iran's nuclear capabilities are now "gone", Trump's claims come despite suggestions that all nuclear material was removed from the three sites targeted by the US using 'bunker buster' bombs.

The comments come as air raid sirens rang out over northern Israel after missiles were detected, and Israel said it would strike 'at the heart of Tehran'.

Netanyahu later reportedly scaled down a planned Israeli attack on Iran, striking a radar array near Tehran after a phone call with Trump, who insisted the ceasefire is still in effect.

The US president wrote: "ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly 'Plane Wave' to Iran. Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect!

Speaking from the emergency Nato summit taking place in The Hague, Sir Keir Starmer added that he had spoken to the Emir of Qatar yesterday following Iran's missile attack.

"I want the ceasefire to continue," he insisted.

"The sooner we get back to that, the better. And that's the message that I'm discussing with others leaders today. We need to get back to that ceasefire, which is consistent with what I've been saying about deescalation for quite some time now."

The US president insisted that Tehran will never rebuilt its nuclear programme due to the targeted strikes.

It comes as a UN human rights spokesperson branded Israel's attack, which blew out the gates of Iran's imfamous Evin prison, "a grave breach of international humanitarian law".

Writing on Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump demanded: “Israel. Do not trop those bombs. If you do it is a major violation. Bring your pilots home, now.”

Israel actioned the strike on the notorious prison, which killed at least 16 people, on Monday, with UN spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan adding the attack was "not a military objective".

The comments follow remarks from the Kremlin, who appeared to back Tehran with its "clear position" of condemning both US and Israeli strikes.

Separately, Tehran claimed that Israel continued firing at the nation until 9am local time - half an hour beyond the proposed start of the ceasefire.

Recent hours have seen the Israeli military says it has identified missiles launched from Iran towards Israel and "defence systems are working to intercept the threat," the military said.

Israel's defence minister says he's instructed the military to "respond forcefully to Iran's violation of the ceasefire with intense strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran."

This comes as Donald Trump claimed Israel and Iran agreed a "total ceasefire" starting early on Tuesday morning.

Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said on X the country has "has no intention" to continue its military response provided the Israeli regime "stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people".

Both Israel and Iran confirmed the ceasefire on Tuesday.

Iran launches missiles on US military bases in Qatar and Iraq

Israel's Defence Forces said Iran launched a new round of missiles on its territory overnight.

Israelis in Tel Aviv were alerted to take shelter as explosions were heard over the city.

Four were killed in southern Israel after Iranian missile hit a residential building in Beersheba, medics reported.

Nine people were killed on Tuesday morning by Israeli strikes in northern Iran, an official has told the Tasnim news agency.

It comes after Iranian state TV announced operation "Annunciation of Victory" after launching a series of missiles at the Al Udeid air base in Qatar on Monday night.

Iran informed the US of the attack before it took place, and no one was injured in the strikes.

According to the Qatari government, the attacks were thwarted by air defence systems.

A statement read: "The State of Qatar strongly condemns the attack that targeted Al-Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

"We consider this a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, its airspace, international law, and the United Nations Charter.

"We affirm that Qatar reserves the right to respond directly in a manner equivalent with the nature and scale of this brazen aggression, in line with international law."

They added:

Taking to Truth Social following the attacks, Donald Trump said Israel and Iran have come to a "complete and total ceasefire agreement."

He wrote: "CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!

"Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World.

"During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL. On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, “THE 12 DAY WAR.”

"This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!"
