Man casually sunbathes in speedos and slippers in Brick Lane

This is the very strange video that appears to show a middle-aged man sunbathing in the middle of Brick Lane over the weekend - before police intervene and escort him away.

The video shows the man, who appears to be in his 50s or 60s and is wearing swimming trunks, on a deckchair in the middle of the bustling east London street market.

Other people are posing for photos with the man, before two police officers approach him and try to move him on.

Two other officers later arrive on the scene and after the man refuses to move - even asking passers-by if they're offended by him - they take him off the deckchair, handcuff him and lead him away.

The man has been spotted before in the area sunbathing and often poses for pictures with the tourists who frequent the Shoreditch hotspot.

LBC has reached out to the Metropolitan Police for reaction to the video.
