Up to 100 children were filmed battering each other with sticks in a mass brawl in Northumberland Heath in south east London.

Met Police officers were called to what they describe "a large fight" between youngsters in Northumberland Heath in Bexley at around 5.40pm on Monday.

Reports on social media suggested around 100 teens were involved, some wearing school uniform, near the Duchess of Kent pub.

The cause of the fight has not been confirmed, but it is understood to have started as a fight between pupils of two schools.

One Facebook post read: "Never seen anything like it and I've lived here eight years... I just just hope the schools deal with those involved. Most were wearing school uniform!"

The Met Police told LBC they sent officers from the borough and the Met's Territorial Support Group.

Two people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while six people were arrested and are in custody at south London police stations.

One eyewitness told LBC: "They had someone in handcuffs. There were just police and people absolutely everywhere.

"There was a helicopter overhead for about an hour and a half. You could just hear shouting and screaming for literally half an hour. It was horrible."
