Why do women play the leading role in pantomimes, which is often a male character?
Jake, East Grinstead
Name: Zoe, Chessington
Qualification: Ancestors were some of the first women to play the roles
Answer: In the early 1800s new laws were introduced in the London theatre which restricted the amount of child actors they could use, so they started to cast women in the roles instead.
