How Cold Are Olympic Swimming Pools?

Olympic pool

rebecca-adlington.jpgQuestion

Our local swimming pool was so cold, I complained and was told it was the “official Olympic swimming pool temperature”, but she wouldn’t tell me what it was. What is it? It is way too cold!

** Definitive **
Name: Rob, M25
Qualification: I have the National Pool Plant Operators certificate
Answer: There is a manual called the National Pool Plant Operators certificate which recommends that pools are heated between 22 and 28 degrees centigrade, depending on their use. A pool for swimming is 22, a fun pool for families is 25 and a toddlers’ pool 28. So an Olympic swimming pool will be 22 degrees.
