Ian Collins hit back at Diane Abbott after the Labour MP said that people who voted for Brexit were racist.

Abbott, one of leader Jeremy Corbyn's closest colleagues, said at the Labour Party Conference: "The people that complain about the freedom of movement will not be satisfied because what they really want is to see less foreign-looking people on their streets."

But Ian Collins was angry with her comments and took aim on his LBC show last night.

He said: "Diane Abbott speaking at a meeting called Brexit- Unite Against Racism And Hatred. You see that in itself offends me. They've had a whole meeting set up to discuss that Brexit is about racism and hatred. I mean that is galling.

"If you're a member of the Labour Party, you should be running for the hills right now. At the Labour Party conference, they discussed immigration and freedom of movement, insisting it makes political and economic sense.

"Well fine, she's entitled to that view. But she moaned that she could not understand why fellow Labour MPs were talking about proposals to restrict immigration. She declared: 'The people who complain about the freedom of movement will not be satisfied because what they really want to see is less foreign-looking people on the streets.'

"Nothing offends me really. You don't really have a a right in that respect. You can disagree with it. She's talking hogwash. She's talking like Diane Abbott talks.

"It is her USP, if you like. It's what she does best. She lets it all out of the bag. She can't help herself. She's a professional agitator. She's a professional oppositionalist."
