As tuition fees edge ever closer to £10,000 a year, Darren Adam says that the idea of so much debt is only going to scare away some of our best and brightest.

Although he admits he's not personally put off by the idea of debt, Darren - who never went to university - still argued that we need to remember £10,000 a year is a huge amount for a lot of people.

"Debt's never scared me, but I think I'm unusual.

"I think it will scare off a lot of people. I think the prospect of racking up almost £10,000 a year in debt for fees and let's not pretend that number's not going to rise at some point in the future.

"That is going to scare off a lot of people. If we want to have a society of happy, educated, rounded individuals...if that's what we want, we shouldn't really be trying to get there by scaring people off with potentially a five figure sum of debt being added to what they owe every year, before they properly start their working life."
