Carrie Symonds treats Boris Johnson to motorbike for Christmas
29 December 2019, 15:30
Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be back on his bike after being treated to a motorcycle for Christmas by Carrie Symonds.
The UK leader's Christmas stocking included an off-road motorbike that was bought for him by his girlfriend, Ms Symonds.
Mr Johnson was gifted a second-hand Yamaha TTR 125 from the 31-year-old, according to the Mail on Sunday.
The off-roader can reach speeds of up to 55mph and is said to be worth roughly £1,000.
Last week, the prime minister told reporters that a new bicycle was on his list for Christmas, but he thought he would have to buy one for himself.
Since becoming foreign secretary and now prime minister, he has had to give up his passion for cycling for security reasons.
However, the grounds of Chequers, his country retreat in Buckinghamshire, could prove to be the perfect playground for his new toy.
The Tory chief is currently enjoying a holiday on the private island of Mustique in the Caribbean with Ms Symonds.
Known for its white sandy beaches, the exclusive island in the archipelago nation of St Vincent and the Grenadines is a favourite of the rich and famous, with Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger owning property there.
Pictures released on Saturday appeared to show Mr Johnson and Ms Symonds travelling in economy class seats on a British Airways flight to St Lucia, before travelling on to Mustique.
The prime minister is reportedly staying with the Von Bismarck family - descended from the first German chancellor, Otto Von Bismarck - in a £20,000 per week villa which The Times said they had accepted as a gift.
