A warehouse manager who won £1 million on EuroMillions said she believes her late mother must have "sprinkled some magic dust" over her as she celebrates her Christmas Eve win.

Lizbet Ramus, from Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, won the cash in the UK Millionaire Maker EuroMillions Christmas draw.

The 55-year-old said: "I jumped around the kitchen like a little bunny rabbit when I found out.

"It's pretty amazing, I can't believe it, you buy a Lottery ticket but you don't expect to win to be honest, so it's a major beautiful surprise.

"I scanned the ticket on Boxing Day morning in the kitchen and I didn't believe it so I had to get my brother to check it with me, then I started dancing round getting excited and from then on it's been a bit of a roller-coaster.

"I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep, it's sinking in now, I have got an inner glow."

She sad her mother Lavender, who died from an aneurysm in April last year, must have "sprinkled some magic dust" to help her win.

Ms Ramus said her first purchase was a £70 coat in Next which she bought with other clothes costing a total of £500, but said she does not intend to go "mental".

She said she wants to buy a home on Shoreham Beach where her father John, 92, who was married to her mother for more than 60 years, lives.

"I want to buy myself a nice little bungalow on Shoreham Beach and then I intend to invest the rest and then hopefully it will look after me until my old age," she said.

The mother-of-one said: "I think she has sprinkled some magic dust over me, she's up there looking after me, she was a beautiful woman, we lost her in April and not a day goes by when I don't think of her.

"It was the most difficult thing in the world.

"You miss your mum because it's the first Christmas without her. It was just before her 84th birthday that she passed away, she had a massive aneurysm, really sudden.

"She was a thoughtful person and an amazing mum so I can't help thinking this is her spreading a little Christmas magic at a time when I really needed it."

However, Ms Ramus said she will not be giving up her job as a sales and warehouse manager for her family's business.

She said: "I am going to carry on working, keep my feet on the ground, obviously I am going to take some holiday.

"I like my job, believe it or not, it's a very grounding thing."

Ms Ramus bought her winning ticket at V&P Convenience store in Brighton Road, Lancing.

Her winning EuroMillions £1 million UK Millionaire Maker code in the December 24 draw was HZWT01008.
