A 20-year-old man who was attacked in an 'altercation' in a London underground carriage has been named.

Police said Tashan Daniel had died after he was stabbed in the unprovoked attack at Hillingdon station.

The station was closed following the attack at around 4pm on Wednesday.

Detectives believe the victim was attacked following an "altercation" on the platform with a group of men.

Witnesses claimed the man may have been stabbed multiple times during the incident.

No arrests have been made and officers have issued a plea to the public to come forward with any information in relation to the killing.

Pictures taken at the scene show 13 emergency vehicles outside the station and a huge number of police officers in the area.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Sadly we have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed at Hillingdon London Underground station this afternoon."

"We are supporting his family and urgently appealing for witnesses."

Witnesses said CPR was being administered at the station after the victim was stabbed on the train.

His family has been informed and are being supported by officers.
