Man arrested on suspicion of murder after body found in Birmingham

Police have launched an investigation after the body of a man was found at his home in Erdington, Birmingham.

A 50-year-old man was found with head injuries and pronounced dead at his home on Kingsbury Road just after 11:30am on Tuesday.

A 65-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

At this stage, it is unclear how the victim sustained his injuries but the death is being treated as suspicious.

A forensic post-mortem examination is due to take place on Thursday to establish his exact cause of death.

A police cordon is in place at the property while a forensic examination takes place, and detectives are speaking to neighbours.

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from force CID, said: “This is a complex enquiry and we are trying to establish what happened in the 24-48 hours prior to this man’s death.

“I would appeal for anyone with information to get in touch with us as the earliest opportunity.

“The man’s family have been informed of his death and are being supported by officers from our specialist family liaison team."
