A murder investigation has been launched after the death of a woman at a property in North London.

The woman, in her 40s, was found with stab injuries by police at an address on Tennyson Close in Enfield on Saturday evening.

Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: "A post-mortem examination and formal identification will take place in due course. A 28-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of murder.

"He remains in custody. At this early stage, no other suspect is sought in connection with the death. It is understood that the deceased and the arrested man were related to each other."

Police say no one else is being sought in connection with the death in Enfield last night - and that they believe the suspect and the victim were related.
