RSPCA hunt after kitten found dumped in street after being 'sexually assaulted'

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a kitten was found in the street with injuries that they suspect were caused by sexual abuse.

The kitten, named Benny, is believed to be between eight and 10 weeks old and was found in Nottingham.

He had suffered "severe damage" which suggest he had been sexually assaulted, according to the RSPCA.

Benny was taken to emergency vets on Sunday after a member of the public found him frightened in the street at around 2PM.

The full extent of his injuries are still being assessed.

RSPCA animal collection officer Hayley Day, who named the kitten, said: "It is so upsetting to think of the pain and suffering he has been through as he is such a lovely and friendly chap. He just wants to cuddle."

"He was also covered in faeces and very skinny.

She continued: "The vet said the injuries suggested he had been sexually abused and it is so upsetting to think of the pain and suffering he has been through.

"Benny was not microchipped and so I am appealing for help in tracing his owner who may live near the area where he was found."

Ben Berlyne, the vet who is looking after Benny, said: "It is sickening to think what he has endured.

"I am treating him with painkillers and am trying to assess the extent of the injuries. But he still has a long way to go."

He confirmed: "The damage suggests the kitten has been sexually abused. 

"I am now treating him with painkillers and am trying to assess the extent of the injuries.

"He is also having antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and some gel has been applied to help reduce the swelling, but he still has a long way to go."
