Detectives investigating a fatal stabbing in Southall are appealing for witnesses. No arrests have been made and enquiries into the murder continue.

Officers were called at 04:00hrs on Monday, 23 September, to reports of injured man in the street

A man was found with stab injuries outside a shop in The Broadway, Southall, near the junction with Saxon Road.

The victim, a 22-year-old-man, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead at 05:26hrs.

The man’s family have been informed.

Formal identification awaits, but the man is believed to be from Slough, Berkshire, but had been living locally.

A post-mortem examination will take place later today (24 September).

Detectives from Specialist Crime South (Homicide) are investigating.

Two forensic scenes remain in place and officers are working hard minimise local disruption.

Detective Chief Inspector Robert Pack, said: “This attack took place in the early hours of the morning, but we believe there would have been people still around who would have seen what happened.

“It appears that the victim was chased across the road at one point, then both the victim and his assailant may have briefly collided with a passing car. This car, which we believe to be a dark coloured VW Polo or Golf hatchback, did not stop.

“It is quite possible that the driver of the car did not realise what was happening and we urgently need this person to come forward. Let me assure the car’s driver that we only wish to speak to them as a witness to the murder investigation.

“We also need people who were in Southall Broadway to come forward. You may have seen people hanging around or the build up to the stabbing and motorists may have been recording their journey on a dashcam.

“We urgently need these people to speak to police, your information or footage could be vital.

“We are keeping an open mind on the motive for this attack and any speculation is just rumour and unhelpful. It is only by providing police with information that we will find out the true facts about how a young man came to lose his life.”

Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or contact via Twitter @MetCC. Please quote CAD 826/23SEP.
