Nigel Farage has thanked the man he thinks is personally responsible for swaying Britain’s departure from the EU - Barack Obama.

The former US President confirmed he was asked by David Cameron to warn the UK would be “back of the queue” for a post-Brexit trade deal, a former aide has said.

Ben Rhodes admitted Mr Obama’s dramatic intervention came at the request of the former prime minister.

Broadcasting from Strasbourg, Nigel said he felt the remarks swayed the vote for the Brexit.

He boomed: “Thank you President Obama we probably couldn't have done it without you.

“The use of that word ‘queue’ meant people knew it was wrong.

“Shame on you David Cameron and No 10 for laughing about the idea it backfired on you as well.”
