Why do some foods/drinks become fads and how are they seemingly able to become so popular so quickly? (Recent examples being cider, posh crisps, popcorn and coconut oil)

Answer: A company will see an opportunity to earn higher margins by making a higher grade product and then if this one company is successful they will all jump on the trend creating this seemingly overnight popularity.
