Car driver arrested after vehicle hit by train at level crossing

Trains between Wokingham and Ascot were affected after a car was hit by a train at a level crossing which resulted in the car driver's arrest for drink driving.
A British Transport Police spokesman said "miraculously no-one was injured" when the incident happened in Wokingham, Berkshire shortly before midnight on Thursday.
The driver of the car - a 29-year-old man - escaped from the vehicle before the collision occurred.
A photograph of the accident shows the car was crushed underneath the South Western Railway train.
The driver of the car, a 29-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and endangering safety on the railway, the Transport Police said, adding he remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
The crash blocked all train lines between Wokingham and Ascot with rail operators saying commuters should check their journey before they travel.
Disruption is expected to continue until 2 pm on Friday.
