Police find presents stolen by heartless thieves on Christmas day
26 December 2019, 15:33
Police officers have made a family's Christmas after they recovered a stolen stash of presents taken from their home in a burglary.
Heartless thieves stole the presents as the family slept on Christmas night from their home in Farnworth, Bolton.
Upon waking up on Christmas morning, they discovered that numerous items had been taken, including the Christmas presents for their two children.
Police were called to the house on Christmas morning, and their investigations led them to a house just a short distance away.
On arrival, the officers found the stolen presents to return to the children.
A 29-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of burglary.
The heartbroken children had also received gifts from local community group Homeless Aid UK, after they heard about the burglary and donated to them.
Inspector William Jennings-Wharton said: “Sadly at this time of year we often deal with people who do not usually have dealings with the police, especially those who are victims of crime.
“Burglary is an extremely emotive crime, which is heightened at Christmas time especially when it involves children.
He continued: “The officers worked incredibly hard and their extensive enquiries enabled us to obtain information about the whereabouts of the presents, before we searched an address and were able to recover them.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank PC Shaw and PC Von-Vadkerthy for their swift response and hard work.”
