One teenager is fighting for his life in hospital and another has been injured after a shooting and stabbing in Walthamstow, north-east London.

A 17-year-old was shot and stabbed while an 18-year-old was also gunned down in a street attack in Walthamstow on Sunday night.

The two teenage males have been taken to hospital, police say.

One witness said they heard "gunshots" near St James’s Street Station, East London, with at least one person seen being placed into an ambulance.

Journalist Farid Qureshi, posted a video from the scene showing a police cordon and a large number of officers.

The 18-year-old was found by officers at the scene and taken to a hospital where he remains in a "stable condition."

The 17-year-old was found close to the scene and also taken to an east London hospital. Police said he is in a critical condition.

Scotland Yard said the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

Police officers remain at the scene in St James Street as investigations continue.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "At this early stage, it is believed that both victims were attacked in the street.

"Crime scenes remain in place.

“Trident detectives from Specialist Crime have been informed.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
