Penny Mordaunt Becomes First Minister To Use Sign Language In Commons

The International Development Secretary has become the first cabinet minister to use sign language from the front bench.

Penny Mordaunt won applause from both sides of the Commons following the historic moment.

She was announcing a global disability conference in London later this month.

MPs have signed in the chamber before, but it’s believed it’s the first time it’s ever happened at the dispatch box.
