His policies have caused outrage. His comments have upset many. But this video shows another side of Donald Trump: the side that surprised visitors to the White House and left at least one little boy beaming.

Captured by cameras from US political channel C-Span, the moment shows Trump appearing suddenly from behind a screen with a big smile on his face.

Cheering visitors greet him with whoops and applause before one boy is brought close for a personal exchange with the Leader of the Free World.

Before he gets back to running the United States, Trump issues some advice to the watching crowd - which included more children: "Work hard everybody, work hard!"
