Armistice Day in the UK is observed annually on 11th November to mark the armistice signed between the Allies and Germany in 1918 to end World War I hostilities. At 11am each year, a two-minute silence is held to remember the service and sacrifice of military personnel who fought in that war and subsequent conflicts. Wreaths are laid at memorials and poppies worn in remembrance.
