Mystery Hour Question

What happens to the internal path of the umbilical cord?

Andy, Mill Hill

Answer

Name: Phoebe, Victoria

Qualification: 7 months pregnant

Answer: On the inside of the mother’s womb is the placenta. from that comes the umbilical cord and it attaches to what will become the baby’s belly button. On the other side of the belly button is a vein that goes into the baby’s heart and that’s called the umbilical vein. When the baby is born that withers a little bit and becomes part of the structure that supports the liver.
