The broadcaster, 43, who hosts the Happy Place podcast, said the experience has reminded her to "slow down and look after myself".

On Saturday, in an Instagram post, she said: "The human body is incredible. In less than three weeks you can barely notice where I had the tumour removed.

"I feel almost normal. My ear is still quite numb and my face a little tender but other than that I'm feeling good." Cotton's post included four photos of her jaw post-surgery at different stages of healing.

"Only swipe if you want to see the gradual stages of healing", she warned her followers.

"It's not massively gruesome but it certainly looks worse than photo number 1.

"I found the whole process fascinating and feel very grateful that the operation went well and that the tumour was benign.

"My surgeon Professor Oflynn made me feel extremely calm and all the nurses were complete angels.

"Nurse Jackie was especially amazing whilst I was in hospital telling me to get off my phone and nap etc.

"I needed a firm telling off at times.

"Feeling grateful that I'm healing well and will always wear this scar with pride. A reminder to slow down and look after myself."

A benign tumour is a mass of cells that are non-cancerous, tend to stay in one place and can be safely removed during surgery.

After she announced her surgery in a post to Instagram, former Big Brother host Davina McCall said she was sending Cotton "so much healing and love" in the comments.

In November, McCall, 57, underwent surgery to remove a colloid cyst - a type of rare fluid-filled benign tumour in the brain.

Cotton said she was "not only lucky" that McCall is a "good mate but also a beacon of light and positivity when it comes to this stuff".

Earlier in the month, Cotton announced that she and her husband Jesse Wood would be "ending our marriage" after 10 years.

Cotton married Wood, the son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, in July 2014 and together they have a son, Rex, and a daughter, Honey.

Cotton began her career in the late 1990s presenting various children's television shows for GMTV, CITV and CBBC.

She previously hosted the Radio 1 Chart Show and TV programmes like The Xtra Factor and Top Of The Pops and was a panellist on ITV's Celebrity Juice.

On BBC Radio 2 she hosts Sounds Of The 90s with Fearne Cotton.
