Massive Attack posted a tribute to Angelo, the Bristol-born guitarist who joined the band in the 1990s, confirming his death.

Angelo played guitar on Massive Attack’s 1998 hit Angel. He also played for other bands, such as The Numbers, Rimshots and The Blue Aeroplanes.

In July, Angelo posted his last message on social media. He wrote: "Had a great life, seen the world many many times, met lots of wonderful people, but the door is closing, think I will write a book."

Many Massive Attack responded with their own tributes to Angelo on the band's post.

One person said: "I'm so sorry for your loss. Very sad seeing this, such a major part of the MA family. My thoughts go out to all his friends & family. RIP Angelo."

"Sorry for your loss. His guitar lines from Angel and Risingson are genuine art", another commented.

A third person said: "Oh that’s very sad. Saw him many times with the Blue Aeroplanes. Unbelievable guitarist."

The Blue Aeroplanes shared their own tribute to Angelo on social media.

We are devastated to announce the passing of our brother Angelo Bruschini. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. Rest In Peace Ange x
