Dale: Savile Report Is Wrong, BBC Could Have Done More

Iain Dale argues that the Smith Report findings on the BBC are "astonishing" - and very wrong.

"I haven't heard many people on this radio station have a go at the BBC for their actions," started Iain. "So let me do so right now."

Over the next few minutes, the LBC presenter took apart the Smith Report's findings on BBC bosses and how much they were to blame for Jimmy Savile's decades of abuse.

"I'm not going to call in question Dame Janet Smith's integrity, but I do call into question her main conclusion...that the BBC has no corporate culpability for what Jimmy Savile got away with."

Iain railed against those findings: "Not a single BBC manager had the balls to confront the issue head on. They can't be held responsible because many of them are now dead."
