This Brave Caller Explains Why Organ Donor Opt-Out Is So Important
5 August 2018, 15:20
A brave caller who lost her husband to liver failure perfectly explains why a new opt-out system for organ donations is so important.
Hundreds of lives could be saved by a new opt-out system which will see adults over the age of 18 automatically registered for organ donation in the event of their death.
"Max's Law", named after 10-year-old Max Johnson, was introduced to parliament last year, and if passed is expected to come into effect in England in spring 2020.
But a caller who objected to the idea of organ donation, explained how she changed her mind when her husband passed away.
Hannah told Maajid that she was someone that "would have liked to have thought that when I die, I die whole, and everything is with me".
"Whereas going through this, and it's been in my face, and the nightmares that I now have to carry, it's not even a thought - it has to be done," she said.
"There are no words."
