Two thirds of knife crime reported to involve under 25's lead to no further action by police, as this caller tells Maajid that a boy she worked with admitted he would rather kill someone in self defence and wind up in prison than be a victim himself.
Maria, who works with young people, told Maajid Nawaz that she met a boy who admitted that he would rather stab somebody to death in self defence, and risk a prison sentence, than be stabbed himself.
"These young people are scared for their lives," she said.
"They know they don't trust adults.
"There's no police, there's no protection."
Her comments come as it is revealed two thirds of knife crime reported to involve under 25's lead to no further action by police.
The number of unresolved incidents increased int he past four years from 33% to 63%, while the number of incidents against victims under the age of 25 surged from 3,857 in 2013 to 6,503 in the year to March 2018.
