The Lawyer For Jihadi Bride's Family's Shocking Reason For Representing Them

The lawyer who is representing the family of jihadi bride Shamima Begum gave a shocking response when he was asked why he agreed to offer them his services.

Tasnime Akunjee held a phone-in with Tom Swarbrick live on LBC where he answered questions from listeners.

One listener asked: "If Tasnime had watched a loved one beheaded with a knife, suffering with absolute terror, would he still stand up and defend an Isis thug?"

The lawyer responded: "It may not be well known to people, but my home and my wife were attacked by an Isis thug, who left a knife in my door.

"So yes I would because that's the oath that I've taken to defend any and all to the best of my ability that ask for my services.

"It's what every lawyer has to do and if they pick and choose what cases they want to take, then our democracy will cease to function."
