A veteran who has been diagnosed with PTSD, mixed anxiety, and depressive disorder, received a letter from the Ministry of Defence summarising his compensation for his service, but the amount was shocking.
A veteran who served in the first Gulf War, Northern Ireland, and Bosnia, shocked Tom Swarbrick with the amount of compensation he will receive from the Ministry of Defence.
Joe, who has been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), read out the letter he received from the MOD on Friday.
"This is the compensation I'm getting," he said.
Reading from the letter, he said: "'We have looked at your claim and confirmed that the following diagnosed conditions have been caused by your military service: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, mixed anxiety, and depressive disorder.'
"I get £36 per week."
Tom was astonished by the amount, which amounts to £1,872 per year.
"I've been told not to work," Joe said.
"It's worst than nothing.
"It's worst than nothing because it's an insult."
