Jacob Rees-Mogg was born on 24th May 1969 in Hammersmith and was educated at Eton College, before studying History at Trinity College, Oxford.
After leaving, he worked in the City of London, before setting up Somerset Capital Management, his own hedge fund company. In 2016, Jacob Rees-Mogg and his wife had a combined net worth believed to be more than £100 million.
He stood in both the 1997 and 2001 General Elections, but failed to get elected each time. He finally reached the Houses of Parliament in 2010 when he stood in North-East Somerset.
He is married to Helena de Chair and has six children: Peter, Mary, Thomas, Anselm, Alfred and Sixtus.
His father is William Rees-Mogg, a former editor of The Times and vice-chairman of the BBC.
