Disabled Caller Lashes Tories: "Two-Faced, Smarmy Cretins"

James O'Brien was trying to keep an open mind about Iain Duncan Smith when this disabled man called with a brutal verdict on the former Tory minister.

Stephen in Wimbledon is blind and uses a wheelchair. His wife is also disabled.

When James opened the phonelines to take about Iain Duncan Smith's resignation and the reasons for it, he received some remarkable calls. Some callers believed Duncan Smith had quit over cuts to disability benefits, others questioned if that was really the reason for his resignation.

Stephen was in no doubt though.

"David Cameron, Iain Duncan Smith and George Osborne: they are three of the most two-faced, smarmy cretins it's ever been my misfortune to breathe the same air as.

"David Cameron had a disabled son, God rest him. He came into power, 'I'm going to do things for disabled people.'"

Does Stephen think Cameron lived up to that? Not at all. He shared his harrowing experience of going up against the benefits system, tearing up as he did so.

"The doctor actually apologised. He said: I am so sorry.

"I acutally know disabled people who have told me that if things continue the way they are, they will actually feel like going to Dignitas and ending their lives."
