James O'Brien: 'Mail Say Vote For May, But Can’t Give One Positive Reason Why'

James says the Daily Mail makes the case for the Tories by devoting 14 pages to saying how awful Labour are. Where’s the positivity?
With less than 24 hours to go until the polls open, James despaired this morning about the poor calibre of the politicians, the uninspiring positions of the parties and the bitter media coverage of the campaigns.
He said that today's Daily Mail, which calls the Labour front bench "Apologists For Terror" and tells readers to vote Conservative, shows just how degraded the election process has become.
"You turn through this newspaper as an emblem of just what a mess the election has been. You're looking for the bit where it explains to you why you should vote for Theresa May and it's all about how awful Jeremy Corbyn is."
James turned through the paper looking for a positive reason to vote, not a negative.
"I'd like you to tell me, as the chief cheerleader and dinner companion of the current prime minister, Paul Dacre, editor of The Daily Mail, I'd like you to tell me why I should vote for her.
"Give me reasons to be cheerful and hopeful about a Theresa May victory. I'm already on page five and all I'm getting is 'vote for Theresa May, she's not Jeremy Corbyn.'"
Pages four and five said Corbyn, McDonnell and Abbott had contempt for British values.
Page six said Diane Abbott welcomed defeats for Britain, page seven said John McDonnell is a Marxist.
Page eight said Labour's plan to crash the housing market was revealed, while page nine highlighted Diane Abbott's illness, which has seen her cancel media appearances.
Page 10 warned of a coalition of chaos while page 11 claimed the BBC was biased to Labour.
Pages 12 and 13 advised people how to vote tactically against Labour around the country.
Then James found a story that wasn't negative about Labour.
"Finally, on page fifteen, we've got a picture of whales. Some humpback whales."
